Do you think it is inconsistent with Protection against Pregnancy Discrimination Act?
Consider the following fictional scenario. The Commonwealth passes the Protection against Pregnancy Discrimination Act. This Act requires employers to treat pregnancy the same as any other disability. The NSW Parliament subsequently passes the Pregnant Employees’ Leave Act which requires employers to give pregnant employees three months’ paid maternity leave. There are no NSW laws requiring employers to provide paid leave to other employees who are temporarily unable to work. An employer channeling’s the Pregnant Employees Leave Act (NSW) on the ground that it gives pregnancy preferential treatment and is therefore inconsistent with the Protection against Pregnancy Discrimination Act(Cth). Do you think it is inconsistent? Argue for your view, supporting your answer by reference to relevant feminist theories.
You had me up to “Argue for your view, supporting your answer by reference to relevant feminist theories.”
Discrimination “protection” is inherently inconsistent. It’s trying to make life “fair” but what is “fair” is a completely different concept for everyone.

I have used all mysick pay for this year as I had a (few) days off with morning sicknes and I am only new to my job ( last 7 months or so)
Now they are saying I have no sick pay left to take a day off when I have my prenatal appointments. I m from Australia and have annual leave but Im taking it when I get married next month….Should I just go without pay for my prenatal appointment or am I entiltled to something else? I cant afford to take the time off without pay….. and Im not entitled to maternity leave later because of the crappy copany I work for.
Im considering finding another job asap
Any advice??? what did you all do for your appointments
i was in the same situation with my first pregnancy. i had only been there 2 months when i got pregnant. i had only 5 days and no vacation time. luckily for me i worked evenings so i just made my appointments in the morning. but when it came time to have my daughter i just had to take time off without pay. it sucked!! but i had to do it. good luck.
getting a new job will be the same way im afraid. not many places give youpaid time off unless you have been there for a year or better. at least thats the way it is in MO US
