
Where can i find out when i must commence maternity leave? I live in Victoria, Australia.?
I am not sure when i have to start maternity leave. I have been told i have to finish 6 weeks before i’m due, 4 weeks before i’m due or i can work up until 2 weeks before i’m due if i have a dr’s certificate. Does anyone know what the actual rules are? I am from Victoria, Australia.

Requirements
At least 10 weeks before the expected date of birth an employee must provide her employer with a medical certificate stating that she is pregnant and the expected date of birth.
At least four weeks before an employee is to commence her maternity leave, she must notify the employer of when she plans to start her maternity leave. She is also required to provide:
* a statutory declaration detailing any paternity leave applied for or taken by her spouse
* an agreement that for the period of maternity leave she will not engage in any conduct inconsistent with her contract of employment
