Financial assistance during maternity leave in Maryland?

Does anyone know if any financial assistance is available for single women in Maryland for maternity leave? I am employed, but my employer does not pay anything and I did not have short term diability insurance. I applied but would not be covered since I was already pregnant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

WIC just gives you, milk, eggs, cheese, formula, cereal, peanut butter, tuna, and juice until your baby is 5 years old. Draw unemployment. I did the same thing in 2006. In MD DC and VA, under the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) you are only entitled to 3 months unpaid maternity leave. I filed for unemployment and got it. It wasn’t much, only like $100 a week, but it helped alot. There is not alot of financial assistance for women having babies and out on maternity leave. You could try to apply for TANF and food stamps, but in Maryland they wanted you to make the father of the baby pay child support in order to get public assistance. But those are the only options for Maryland.
