Interviewed for a position, how do I follow up?
I interviewed for a 9/10 grade English teaching position on the 1st. It’s only been roughly 2 weeks and I know they interviewed thirty or forty candidates. I was not told when they would be making a decision and haven’t heard anything since. I sent follow up thank you notes, but don’t know how to go about composing a follow up email. I was interviewed by the dept. chair and 3 teachers. I am long term subbing for a maternity leave in the school, so see them on a daily basis and no one has said anything. Would it be appropriate to send the dept. chair an e-mail? If so, how do I word it??
I was in a similar situation last year. What worked for me was going directly to the principal and politely ask what the next steps are. Doing this shows your active interest in getting this job and employers like that. Employers like people who take initiative.
