Health insurance, what does this mean?
The brochure says:
“The Insurer will pay the actual expenses incurred as a
result of pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, or any complications resulting from any of these.”
(Under the maternity section)
And then in the SCHEDULE OF BENEFITS chart (co-insurance), it shows the different things and how they pay 80% (e.g. hospitalization, seeing a doctor, etc.)
Does this mean that they pay in full for delivery, or just 80%?
The first part of your question describes the insuring agreement of your policy. The company states that they will pay for expenses arising from a pregnancy and it also sets out what other medical expenses are covered in the insuring agreement.
The second part of your question describes the level of coverage. The company sets out the schedule of payments, (how they will pay) for benefits described in the above mentioned insuring agreement.
Policies are structured this way so that the basic insuring agreement is unchanged but the policyholder has the flexibility to choose the level of coverage and therefore has some control of the premium. (i.e. 70% payment instead of 80% would be a lower premium)
So to answer your question they will pay 80% of the medical bill and you will pay 20% until you reach an agreed amount (perhaps $1,000) then the company will pay 100% of the remaining bill.
TARGET CLEARANCE SECTION- maternity clothes and women’s clothes are where its at!
